My Trip toward Home...

...and finally here we go.... I'll try to conclude later this adventure part of my blog with a post better than this one whose goal is to let everybody know (who cares? you gonna say) that I'm back, after a long trip and no unexpected things happened. Apart from the nice retired guy sitted next to me on the fight Melbourne - Atlanta who was really talkative and, How you can imagine, I didn't understand almost a single word of what he said: I got the reason of this after asking the guy where he lived.... delaware: ahhh that one must have been the reason. Anyway, let me say his English was kind of akward to understand! For the rest il Teone did great: I made some joke with the really nice hostess (thank you for your help if you can hear me) who helped me to get my boarding passed at Atlanta Intl. Airport ( aka Hartsfield-Jackson). Oppositely, I'm not gonna thank the guy who charged my 25$ for my overweighted bag: 69 pound instead of 50.... come on! 25$ for 19 pounds exceeding is a robbery, but as I told that guy I didn't know how to do... so I silently paid!

The flight from ATL - to LND Gatwick was simply great: good food, good movies (I really liked "Night at the Museum"), nice hostesses even if with a little spot: they had such a strong British accent and after having been surrounded by Americans for 4 months I can clearly see how different the British accent is: actually I think is kind of funny 'cause when they speak they seem to have a big potato stuck into their mouth!

I know that nobody is gonna believe me: anyway I heard my first "after-4-month live Italian" while standing in the line for the security checks at gatwick airport ( and by the way thanks for nothing to the nasty lady that when I asked her if she could do something for me and some other Italian guys---since we were about to miss our flight---ans'ered: "what do you want me to do? I'm doing my job, I can't do anything"!

Before concluding this post, I would like to thank everyone in Florida who has helped me to improve my English: guess you guys did a good job... I'm proud of what my English looks like now: I know guys that there is still a lot of work to do on the spoken part but thank you anyway and I promise you I'll get my TOEFL right away or at least before starting forgetting things, which is gonna happen soon!

Anyway I really appreciate to be back in my country even though I already miss the US: but you can't imagine how beautful (and even weird) was when tonight I went to a restaurant and the waiter asked:"Ciao ragazzi, quanti siete?"... you don't believe me (probably you do only if at least once you have been abroad for more than 1 month without speaking and hearing Italian at all) but it sounded to me so weird: I think that the guy thought I was kinda insane because I got stuck looking at him and smiling with a wondered face!!!

Good Night!

My First Party is gone...

...right now it's 3:40am and I'm still awake 'cause I'm kinda drunk (once again)!
It's been busy: I mean I had my fist goodbye party and it was just great! We went to my roommate's advisor and we had a lot of fun talkin' and drinkin'!

After that, we went downtown and we met some friends: I met this really nice american guy who was in the navy for 6 years going around the world: everything was just fine!

Since we had cycled to go downtown, that guy offered us a ride and told us that he was gonna carry our bikes in his truck.

Finally we keep our party going on at our place and you can see some pictures: we drank a two more beers and we talked about things and stuff. I'm so wasted, but I really enjoyed the night!

By the way, today I bought a new camera: a Canon 750 something! WOW guys: it's just amazing... going to bed now! click!

I got a nice Italian poetry...

...my wife wrote it for me last night, I don't who wrote that poetry, but it's really beatuful and nice, so below, you can read a tentative translation:

Gently touch my hands and drive me to fly through the magic world of feelings, where only love matters, where gold an jewels are worthless.

Kiss me and get me into your heart where winged dreams and magic emotions live...

Tighten me in your arms as I were a baby, smell me as a flower touched by the breeze of the wind and kissed by the sunshine.

Don't leave me alone even only for a second and remember I'm yours and you will be mine.

By my kisses, I don't wanna chain and get you into a golden cage because I'm aware love is a gift, source of life...
...next to me you will always be free and I will be yours forever.

I close my eyes and I see you smiling as the sun. I open my eyelids and you are next to me like a blinding light!

I'm you and you're me, we're like the day and the night. we are complete only when we hold our hands.

Come, caress me and don't leave me!

Living with you is a dream that lasts through time: neither sunrise nor sunset can be better that us, because we are unique... we are sunset and sunrise

LOVE IS A MISTERY THAT WILL BE REVEALED ONLY WHEN WE'LL GET FREE LIKE BIRDS IN LOVE WITH THE WIND, THE SKY AND THE SUNLIGHT.

NOW MORE THAN EVER I NEED A KISS AND CARESS!

okay, I know I'm a bad translator... but this poetry is lovely!

The legend of the Fryer...

...has been created! Three guys...which one is "The Fryer"? In that house something is gonna happen... a new secret is gonna be revealed soon: "The Fryer" starts on April 30! The movie that is gonna blow you away!!!! Only in Melbourne's theaters!

Rated PG-13

Tha'one is been only a joke that is pretty difficult to get if you don't know the exact situation which it's been developed in! Moreover, since this is a public-accessible blog I can't say more: if u were interested in knowin' more details , I could send me an email and I will be happy to an'ser your questions :) !

By the way, tonight is kind of a special night, because after two months Brian came back from Ecuador, so we celebrated his return drinkin' a good bottle of Australian wine (thank Brian, it was really really good and tasty!).

it doesn't count for anything sayin' that we got a little bit drunk but we have been having such a good time for the last three hours and the legend of "The Fryer" started!

Right now, I'm eating the delicious nutella-topped bread that you guys can see in one of the pictures I'm postin' with this (the other one is a picture of the wine we've been drinkin' and we still are drinkin')!

I have to say that I've been worried about my returning to Italy lately, and this nice evening is helpin' me not to think about silly things. I really calmed down thanks to my friends!!!

4.25.2007

Guess What??

Yep...you right... drunk once again!! It's been a while since the last time I was totally sober...
These are supposed to be my last days here and I'm feelin' kind of excited about going back to Italy, but at the same time I'm feelin' kind of bored and helpless. I get up in the morning and I start judgin' myself: what have u been doin' in these months? have u been really learnin' anything? My American friends tell me to take it easy. Today someone told me (I wasn't either speakin' about that) that it's amazing all the progresses have been doin' in these months and my capacity to cope with the new language has been just incredible....I a'swered: "OK, you right, whatever!". To be honest with u guys, I feel suddently ashamed every time I have to speak with a stranger even though now I perfectly know that I can do that with no problems at all!
Anyway next year I'm gonna repeat this experience even though I'll try to get to a university in the north, just to see the differences between these two parts of this wondeful country!

By the way, I wish i could get rid of "gonna, wanna and gotta" and start sayin' "going to, want to and got to", but I think it's too late.... any attempt is gonna fail, no way men!

Tonight no pictures because my camera decided to stop workin', suddently! I'm feeling sad for my camera....

I have a lot of clothes to be washed, but I'm not feeling like comin' to the laundry and turn on neither the washing machine nor the dryer because I'm gettin' sleepy and the time being left before my departure, even if it's only 5 days, is drivin' me totally crazy.

Guess it's time to say goodbye: I'll miss you nice country and I'll miss you guys too (talkin' about the friends I've been makin' here)

Gotta go to watch South Park, now! Good night there!

4.24.2007

Hangin' around...

...NY: in this picture I'm under Brooklyn Bridge! WOW, it's so amazing!

I took the other picture at the UN: you guess right! I was inside the auditorium that we usually watch on the tv news!

I already miss the US!

Now I'd better go to bed or else...: if an American guy tells you:---you'd better do that or else--- "or else" is more than a simple warn... usually it's more like a threat, if u guys know what I mean :) !!

I changed my mind...

...right after I saw the World Trade Center Memorial (New Yorkers don't like to call that place Ground Zero): all that devastation around me and some of the stories some guys told me, I finally convinced myself that it was one of the most horrible tragedies it had never happened in the entire World. You hav'to see that to believe what I'm talkin' about right now! Anyway, for the rest, u guys know what I think about that awful tragedy!!!

Goooo Panther!!!...

...one week from now I will be lying on my bed again....
Guess what guys? I'm totally drunk tonight too! Yup, I'm pretty wasted. Went downtown, hangin' around, doing nothing just drinkin' and talkin'. If I think about my English now, I can say: Oh my God, it's just awesome compared to the English I was speakin' my first days here. Sometimes I tell my friend: guys: how'd I manage to survive here the first days, when I didn't know even to say "gotta go to the bathroom"?. I mean, I did know how to say that, but it wasn't easy at all, and I was feeling weird all the time I was talkin' in English.

U can imagine that the most difficult words for a "Romagnolo" guy to pronounce are thrsty, with, and on and on. Oppositely, I learned right away how to pronounce "thing" as they do and stuff like that. My favourite English word is "ridiculous" which is used to say for example "that thing costs a lot of money": in that case you guys would say: I'm not gonna buy it, its price is just ridiculous.

Finally, my knowlege of the language allows me to say everything I feel like saying: just to make a silly example, tonight we were talkin' about american society and more complicated thing I'm not allowed to explain here because I don't wanna get behind the bars few days before going back to Italy.

At least, my stay here has been counting for something. I'm gonna miss these evenings when I simply go out, hunging around doing nothing, saying' bullshits all the time, makin' fun of some ilarious people and, and... that's it I guess.

I'm gonna remember this place sayin': those were the days!!!!

Anyway, tomorrow morning I'm gonna be again in sheep configuration. As I translated from Italian to English "Leone di notte, pecora al mattino": Lion at night, sheep in the morning.

I also got a plush (the one u guys can see in the picture), just to remind myself that I've been part of this big/small community for a while: guys, I can say that somehow I'm gonna be part of this community for all my life long.

Just to make a rewiew of my time here, I can say that finally I've been in more than one place, I flew through some airport, just to recall the most important ones: Atlanta, Orlando, NY JFK (it's kind of awful)... NY "La Guardia"... if I remember right I think that "La Guardia" was a former NY mayor and actually it's a shame that they pronounce that very Italian name: "La gu'a'ria.

I got to that airport only by chance because when I went to Manhattan, I was supposed to land in NY JFK... Finally, few hours before my departure, my flight to NY JFK was cancelled, and they rebooked me on a different flight: the result of this was that I would have to have three layover: Melbourne-Atlanta-Orlando-JFK that it would have been just ridiculous because flying from Melbourne to Atlanta and then from Atlanta to Orlando is like flying from Rome to Bologna and then from Bologna to Naples to finally get in Milan from Naples...yes, they were just out of their minds!!!!

Anyway, I was telling you: I came to Melbourne International and the hostess at Delta's counter got my reservation, looked at my itinerary, started laughing and called her colleague: <<"Hey Bob, you gotta see this: does anybody know about geography here?">>. Then she apologized for that mistake and provided to place my nice ass on a reasonable itinerary!! She was really kind. I met her again one week later: I was about to fly once againg and she was again on duty at the same Delta's counter! She told me:--Hey, How's i'goin'? I remember you...you are La Guardia: was your flight alright?--.

That non-sense story just because it's non-sense tells you guys a very important thing: in the US you can even meet by chance some very kind and funny individuals, and anyway flyin' around the US in pretty cool!!

I had such a great time in NY City...the only shame was when I had to leave the city: -18 celsius degrees a lot of snow... I thought my flight was gonna be canceled: in the other pictures you can see Brooklyn totally covered with snow and a nice (but at that time a little bit unconfortable) picture (very blurred) of my plane taken from gate A18 before the departure from one of the most incredible cities I've ever been in. That was the time :) !!

Before going to bed...

...what better than eatin' some mint-chocolate cookies: they taste like "After Eight" and they can help you a lot to fight that throwing-up sensation!!

at the movies at night

Tonight I went to the Movies to watch "The Fracture" with Antony Hopkins: it was a really cool movie and I really enjoyed watchin' it! The spoken English was kind of awkward to understand, but even though I get---I mean understandin' word by word---only the 80 percent of the whole movie---I can definitely say it was a well-done movie and let me say "Antony Hopkins is simply a great actor, at least as great as one of my favourite who's Jack Nicholson. Hopkins has that appeareance of bad and insane guy that makes me really enjoy the roles he usually plays!
While watchin' that movie I was eatin' a lot of junk and really cheap food and drinkin' a medium Coke ( you guys can imagine the size of a medium soda in the US: just as big as a large bucket). tha' one must be the reason why now I'm feeling like throwin' up! It happens when you eat so bad for too many months.

Good night guys, take care and, as usual, it's good to meet you even if only virtually!!!

Ah.. I was about to forget: of course, to get to the movies I used my inseparable bike that has been carrying my ass everywhere in these months: by the way you can see a nice picture of my (crappy and dorky) bike. Thanks to it my ass is gettin' flat and my balls squeezed. Nonetheless I'm gonna miss it!!

on the beach at sunrise....

I went to the ocean cycling in the morning: lovely weather, nice people around... I had a really great time lying on the beach and getting tanned: actually I'm preatty tanned now, so at least you guys should show some envy for my tan skin!!! Just kidding... Anyway it was cool!

4.21.2007

The guys're around: I'm kind of drunk...

...actually I'm totally drunk so, that means I'm writing this post while under the influence of alcohol: What a nice thing to do!!!
It's been a really funny evening, before getting into the party we went downtown and we had dinner at a really funny place, drinkin' a couple of Peroni beers (by the way, I don't know why, but Peroni's taste is so good if u drink it in the US, while if u in Italy the taste is so cheap and crap'y) and talkin' about silly things and makin' fun of some weird guys: we had a really good time.

We were walkin' through downtown, headed toward our powerful bikes (the best thing I can afford here, in order to go up and down) and we were talkin' about London, when a guy stopped us saying:<< Oh Rome... what an awesome city, I was there 8 months ago, it's so beautiful and Italians are so nice>>. I told him:<< actually I'm Italian and I know that we are so nice and lovely... and Rome is of course wonderful! I'm glad you like Italy (how could it be the opposite?) but, by the way, if u don't mind, we were talkin' about London which is beautiful too, but it's kind of more, let me say, British?>> Anyway that guy was really nice , so I kept talkin' to him for a while. Finally we got to our bikes and we went back home!

We joined the party (it was already really late), having a couple of glasses of wine, talkin' about silly things (once again): can u believe? My housemate, who's Colombian, knows some Italian singers: Gigliola Cinquetti (I laughed at him), Zucchero (can u believe that I'm no longer able to pronounce the "z": hope I'll get rid of that soon, 'cause I don't wanna seem funny when back to Italy), Eros Ramassotti and Laura Pausini (?) ....

Finally, since we were gettin' really hungry, I cooked some frozen pepperoni pizza and while we were eatin' it we were also laughing at the english mistakes I used to make when I came here 4 months ago: like for example ouse instead of house, orrible istead of horrible: u understand well, one of the most difficult things at the beginning of my stay here was to pronounce the "h". By the way, I finally got rid of those mistakes like more than one month ago: I really have to be honest (you don't have to pronounce the "h", English is just a funny language sometimes) with myself and say that my english's improvement has been just amazing in a so little time, even though I'm still not satisfied of it.

Now I'm here writin' this post and dreamin' my bed since I'm really tired and sleepy!

Have a good nice guys, take care: I'll be back in a blink of an eye, I miss you!

4.19.2007

Tomorrow it's gonna be a tough day...

Nonetheless I'm feeling very excited about my close departure and seeing my italian friends. At the same time, I'm more than sure that I'm gonna miss this place and some of the guys I've met in these months in Florida.
Anyway, before going to bed, I've decided to have some bread and Nutella just to make my life sweeter!!! Do u remember that silly Nutella's commercial in Italy?

---What would the world be with no Nutella?---

Let me say:<< a world with less pimples>>

However, sometimes Nutella is (quasi) indispensable to survive and it remembers me my childhood...ah, those were the days!

Why am I not a child any longer? Nutella and Holly & Benji at 4pm... I'm getting old: actually I think I'm already kind of old, but I'm not thirty... not yet!!!

Good night guys: better, since there it's already deep night, I hope you're makin' wonderful dreams!!

Meanwhile...

...the house is so silent... nobody is around, everything is so quiet and calm, and this despite of what I said in my previous post! ;)

Tonight a lot of things are up...

Tonight it's being a really special night: my housemate gave me a present he had bought for me! He told me: this is the only american thing made in America than I could have bought to you. I really appreciate what he has been doing for me in these three months, not only because he's been helping me a lot with the language (most of the new things I know are because he taught me them!), but also because we have shared a lot of funny events together...thanks for everything :) !!

4.18.2007

Meanwhile...

My room is messier than ever!!! I know, I know: I'm a so deorganized and messy guy....Mam don't blame me for that mess! :)

After Having Gotten Drunk, It's Time for Some Ice Cream

Since I'm (as usual) kind of drunk and hungry, I've decided to eat some ice cream... just to get fatter.... actually I don't care: fat is nice!!!

4.17.2007

Talkin' about Chicken and Mushrooms...

...Suddenly I've changed my mind and right now I'm cookin' the frozen "thing" you can see in the picture: it's supposed to be roasted chicken in a mushroom sauce, we'll see what it's gonna look like after it cookes!

Ehm...I know that I could appear a little bit incoherent to someone of us (couldn't I?)... kind of: "the one who advices well and acts wrong" (forgive me... I didn't know how to translate this in English, I guess they don't even say a thing like tha' one, or perhaps they say so in a totally different way.

Oki, since my food seems to be done, I'm going to eat it right away: I'm starving!!

Tomorrow I'll be able to tell you if the f*****g mushroom chicken will have made me get a nice stomachache! I hope not so!!!!

Home Sweet Home, Eventually!!!

Today's been a really hard one, 'cause I've been workin' a lot and (as someone of us knows)... I had worked hard expecially from 6pm to 7pm!

What's better than gettin' home after a hard workin' day?

By the way, have you seen the house where I'm livin'? here it is!! What do u think? Do u like it? Anyway, even though you guys don't like it, I swear that it's really confortable and nice!

Now, since I'm feeling kind of faint and starving, I'm gonna cook some food: tonight I feel like eatin' some fried chicken... way healthier than our italian food... isn't it?

I'm not nuts... only kiddin'... Pida cun e parsot e **** par tot! (e cmq non si applicherebbe nel mio caso, vero il Cesaro?) ever!

P.S.: Since lately I've been trying hard to get drunk...I don't want tonight to make the difference and I'm gonna toast (again) with a glass of good (and original) Sansvez wine!

Cheers!

4.16.2007

Tonight Sanzves :)

Ok Ok, I made a decision...tonight I'm gonna drink this maxi bottle of Sangiovese wine, so I can feel like being at home... so I'll raise my glass in a toast to all the italian people who are thinking me (if anyone :) )....I'm thinking you guys too ;(

Mamma Li Turchi!!!

Do you think my room is a mess? yes, it's... actually, I really enjoy messing it up :)... that's the reason I'm looking for a good (and cheap) housekeeper...do u know anyone? :) ...

The building which I work in!

Drinkin' a Diet Coke and Eatin' Junk Food: tha's life!

Hey... This is my typical workin' day... with a Coke and some M&M/peanuts/things keeping me company!!!

4.15.2007

Feeling Much Better, but the weather sucks a lot...

Today I feel much much better! I've been listening to some Vasco Rossi's song for a while and now everything seems to me much better...
The weather really sucks today: if you consider the thunderstorm just gone away... Anyway, my departure's day is approachin' fast and I'm feelin' excited and sad at the same time: I've been doing some friends here, and the idea of living this place makes me feel sad: after all I've been livin' here for 4 months, enough time to get used to a new way of life...
...by the way, I've also realized that a place better than Romagna doesn't exist, at all... pida cun e parsot, hills, girls, seaside, the Romagna's Summer and that Spring smell you can smell in this part of the year ... ah guys... my land is my land and I will never change it for all the money of the World... Italy and Romagna, once again: I'm gettin' in... Romagna centre of the World!!!!

4.14.2007

Sadness caught me up, Finally!

Yes..you're reading right! Today I've been run over by a great deal of sadness and, even worse, I can't figure out how to get rid of this damn bad feeling that has been bothering me all day long! I hope it's gonna end soon, 'cause it's driving me crazy.

4.13.2007

Cookin' in the Backyard

This is the backyard of the house where I'm living now! As you can see, since sometimes I miss my country, to feel better I'm used to cookin' meat and drinkin' a bottle of good italian wine with my friends! I thought it was more difficult to get a bottle of italian wine here, but definitely it's as easy as to buy it in Italy and it's not expensive, either!

My First Talk at Florida Tech

If you were really interested in laughing, you could watch the video of the one-hour talk I gave at Florida Tech on February the 23rd!
I was kind of concerned about the quality of the talk I was close to give, 'cause you know, it was one of the Friday's seminar of the Florida Tech's Computer Science Department where I'm spendin' my reseach period. Finally, just few minutes before the talk started, I had told my self that everything was gonna be ok and, as you can imagine, everything was okey and I did great with my talk!
Anyway, now I think it wasn't that much bad as I thought the days following that talk! Enjoy and... feel free to laugh! :)

Driving on the US Roads

Yes guys, at last I've got the possibility to know what driving on the US roads means! I find very exciting to drive through the american highways: you can feel really free while driving on an highway!

Getting Started

I didn't know at all it was so easy to make up a blog, so here we are: I guess this is supposed to be the first brick of this blog.
By the way, I'm having a lot of fun here in the US, but It's gonna end soon, 'cause in a couple of week I'll be back in Italy to my usual life and surrounded by my friends who I miss a lot:<"I Cesaro", I'm coming.... we're gonna have such a wonderful summer!>.
What else to say? I hope you guys're gonna enjoy this blog: I promise I'll try to keep it up-to-date!

I'm almost done with my american stuff:< Italy...I'm gettin' in!!!!>
